Doodles in the cafe and scribbles at breakfast are mostly where the designs begin.

Later on in the studio, the ideas are refined and rendered in pen and ink with a traditional dip nib pen, their lively character is enhanced by the technique.

Working with a digital ceramics specialist the illustrations are printed onto a transfer sheet using a vibrant colour set. They are then applied by hand onto a fine bone china sourced from Stoke-on-Trent, and fired in a kiln just outside Rye.
